327 children face a bleak Christmas
Children of the Jakaranda and Louis Botha children’s homes have been waiting for more than 60 days after the state failed to pay out the much-needed subsidy.
“Currently we are not able to ensure that the basic needs of children are met or pay basic expenses and salaries.” Charlene Grobler, CEO

The Jakaranda and Louis Botha Children’s Homes are based in Pretoria. These homes care for 344 children between the ages of 3 and 18 years. The children are placed in our care after having been removed from their unfavourable circumstances by the court. Here we provide a home where they receive therapy and adequate medical services.
The subsidy from the Department of Social Development covers 50% of the needs of these children homes’ and remains a critical source of income on which the children depend. After 60 days delay, we do not foresee the government paying the subsidy and as a result we need to appeal for public support.
We are in urgent need of funds to pay salaries and buy groceries, food, toiletries, and cleaning materials for all 29 houses.
